CoolSculpting for the Chin: Is it Right for You?

CoolSculpting® is one of the most popular cosmetic dermatology procedures.  CoolSculpting® for the chin is one of the FDA-approved treatment areas. CoolSculpting® can help contour the chin area by eliminating stubborn fat. Before you decide if CoolSculpting® for the chin is the right procedure for you, let’s learn more about it.

What is CoolSculpting®?

CoolSculpting® is the only FDA-approved fat-freezing cosmetic dermatology procedure. It is a non-surgical method that eliminates up to 25% of stubborn fat. CoolSculpting® is a safe and effective fat reduction treatment with more than seven million completed treatments around the world. There is no surgery, no anesthesia, and no invasive techniques involved with a CoolSculpting® treatment. Although CoolSculpting® is a fat-reducing treatment, it is not a weight loss procedure. It eliminates stubborn fat in areas like the abdomen, back, thighs, upper arms, and the chin.

CoolSculpting® vs Kybella

While there are a few double chin treatment options, CoolSculpting® and Kybella are two of the most popular. While both result in a fat reduction in the chin area, CoolSculpting® and Kybella do differ in their procedures.

A CoolSculpting® procedure consists of freezing fat cells using a process called cryolipolysis. During this procedure, a gel pad is applied to the targeted area to protect the skin. The fatty bulge to be treated is suctioned into the applicator’s opening where you will begin to feel a slight tugging sensation, as well as intense cold. You might also feel tingling, stinging, aching, or cramping. After five to ten minutes the area becomes numb as the fat layer is cooled to approximately 35 degrees Fahrenheit.

A CoolSculpting® for the chin procedure can take up to an hour. During this treatment, the intense cold damages the targeted fat cells, which triggers a response in the body that ultimately results in the death of the fat cells. Over several weeks, your body processes and eliminates the dead fat cells naturally.

Kybella is an injectable treatment specifically used to treat the chin area. Kybella is made up of deoxycholic acid, which is a naturally occurring molecule in the body. It is produced in the intestines and helps break down and absorb dietary fat. Similar to CoolSculpting®, a Kybella treatment lasts approximately an hour. During the procedure, a small, dotted grid is applied to the skin to mark injection spots. Once the marks have been made, Kybella is injected into the skin.

Is CoolSculpting® for the Chin Safe?

Yes, CoolSculpting® for the chin is a very safe procedure. The technology used during this treatment precisely targets the fat cells underneath the skin. Although the treatment involves intense cold, the skin is unaffected as the system will shut down automatically if it senses the skin becoming too cold.

Additionally, our providers have been expertly trained and certified in dermatology and the CoolSculpting® procedure. As with any medical procedure, there are minimal risks. Does CoolSculpting® Last?

Yes, CoolSculpting® for the chin does have long-term results. This is because cryolipolysis permanently eliminates fat cells. Each treatment can remove up to 25% of fat cells in the targeted area and new fat cells do not grow to replace those eliminated.

CoolSculpting® Cost for the Chin Area
