Dermatology Insurance Information

Please bring your current insurance card and photo identification to your appointment. This is a requirement to be seen in our office.

Although we accept most commercial insurance plans, including Highmark, UPMC, we are unable to participate in some of the restricted network health plans. If there is any question about our participation with your insurance, please contact our office or your insurance carrier.  We will do our best to help you interpret your insurance coverage and benefits but ultimately, it is your responsibility to know your coverage limitations.

Unfortunately, we do not participate with most medical assistance programs, including, but not limited to, UPMC for You, UPMC Dual, Gateway, Access, Unison, Coventry Cares, and United Community.  If any of these are your secondary insurances, you are responsible for any remaining balance.

While our services are likely covered under your insurance, many plans have associated co-payments, co-insurances, and deductibles that are the responsibility of the patient.  Most insurance companies are able to provide us with a real-time estimate of these fees.  You are responsible for these out-of-pocket expenses and they will be collected at the time of your visit.  Please see our financial policy below for more information.

Surgery Patients:

Most of our surgeries are performed in the Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery Center. The Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery Center is a state licensed Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) mandated by the Pennsylvania Department of Health to follow strict guidelines for licensure.  As an accredited ASC, we are required to bill two fees (a professional fee and facility fee) for surgical procedures performed in this ASC facility. The professional fee is from Vujevich Dermatology Associates, PC and the facility fee is from the Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery Center, PC.

If you do not want a recommended procedure performed in our surgical center, you have the option to decline.

The benefits of having your surgery performed in an ambulatory surgical center include:

-Licensure from Accredited Organizations: We are inspected, monitored, and licensed by multiples organizations including CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services), Pennsylvania Department of Health, Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care and CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments).

-Specialized Surgical Staff: Our staff includes advanced cardiac life support (ACLS)-certified registered nurses, certified surgical technicians and histotechnicians who undergo continuing medical education to maintain their licensure.

-Benchmark Standards: We have policies in place to monitor surgical complications, infections or errors that occur in our ambulatory surgical center. We implement quality assurance policies to monitor and improve areas of patient satisfaction and surgical outcomes. We utilize patient satisfaction surveys, patient safety assessments and chart reviews measured against national benchmark standards to improve quality of care.
